KOE was founded in 1996 by two fanatic brekabeaters, Roshi and Robin. As most truly great inventions were made by accident, this is also the case with KOE. The guys were playing around with some music software when the idea to form a band appeared. The idea developed into an obsession and their studio started filling up with electronic equipment.
”Although our sound is heavy, KOE is not gloomy and angry, positivity is our natural state.”, the band muses. A good example of this is the track Frank which effortlessly fuses funk elements with a tight drum & bass groove.
”Our tracks are a bit similar to a mandala, that monks make out of sand”, says KOE. ”We tweak the tracks for some while and if we are not satisfied, we’ll wipe the slate clean.” The Mandala technique has received recognition from influential sources; DJ Vegas (Bad Company) and Norwegian dj/producer Teebee have added KOE tracks to their playlists.
